Traprain was founded in 1999 by its Chief Executive, Peter Foreman. An English qualified solicitor (currently non practicing) with 35 years’ experience, Peter has spent more than 25 years working at director and vice president level in the commercial sector, with a particular focus on oil & gas, engineering and the construction sector. This has included acting as Project Director on a number of oil & gas and petrochemical projects in the United Kingdom and overseas.
While Peter’s experience encompasses wide-ranging areas - corporate recovery; legal and contractual services; project management; joint ventures; Alliances; acquisitions; litigation; arbitration; mediation; dispute management and negotiation; management restructuring – he has developed a network with fellow professionals in order to provide clients with an enhanced range of services. Each associate brings with them a wealth of experience, which Traprain melds into a bespoke package to meet the individual needs of each client.
Since the company’s formation in 1999, Traprain network members have worked with many international companies, providing advice and claims management on major construction and engineering disputes, assistance with Alliance formation, commercial and technical due diligence and much more. The consultancy also provides training courses for a range of clients, many of them in the Middle East, both as public and specialist in-house courses.
Peter has been recognised for his contribution to both the onshore and offshore industries and he has been actively involved in many trade bodies. He is an accredited commercial mediator and a panel member for mediation panels for courts in London and Edinburgh. He is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, and a member of both The Law Society of England & Wales and The Energy Institute.
