SEHA, the Abu Dhabi health care company, is a major health-care provider in the United Arab Emirates. As part of its operations the company builds and maintains hospitals and clinics. The decision was taken to change their existing contracting strategy and use the FIDIC suite of contracts, in accordance with general practice within the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
SEHA’s mission is “to maintain a leadership role in consistently providing superior, accessible, affordable and comprehensive health services for our community and the region in a socially responsible and cost effective manner that is on par with world-class standards”. The move to internationally accepted contract terms was part of this philosophy. However, SEHA needed their staff to understand the structure and concepts behind these documents.
Working with partners Euromatech, Traprain developed a five-day course working through all the main contracts in the FIDIC Suite, explaining the concepts involved and the practical issues that might arise.
Traprain has previously developed a one-day course on the UK LOGIC Suite of contracts, used extensively in the North Sea, for the Norwegian legal and commercial staff of Aker Solutions. This course was delivered in Bergen, Norway.
Similar courses have been developed for other clients, including oil rig builders Tees Alliance Group of Middlesbrough, England.
If your company is changing its contracting structures or philosophy, Traprain can provide bespoke training at an affordable price.
